cê, tá, tô, tamos, pra, pro? Do you know what these words mean?

“tá”, “tô”, “tamos”,”cê”, “pra”, “pro”?

These are informal/spoken language and can make you very confused (mainly if you try to use a dictionary).  

So take a look at  the examples bellow to understand what they mean:

Cê tá com sede? (Are you thirsty?) 

“cê” = você (you).

“tá” = está (second person, singular, verb to be –   ESTAR)

Pra onde cê vai? (Where do you go?)
Eu vou pra farmácia (I go to the pharmacy)

“pra” = para or para a (to/for the)

Cê tá em casa? (Are you at home?)

“tô” = estou (first person, singular, verb to be – ESTAR)

Tamos em casa agora. (We are at home now)

“tamos” = estamos (third person, plural, verb to be – ESTAR)

Vou pro supermercado (I go to the supermarket)

“pro” = para o (to/for the)

João e Maria, ceis vão pra festa? (João e Maria, do you go to the party?

“ceis”= vocês (you = 2 or more people)
